Step 1: Prepare the cake batter
- Follow the directions on the package to prepare the chocolate cake mix. Pour into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish and bake as directed.
Step 2: Poke the cake
- Allow the cake to cool for ten minutes after baking. Make even holes in the cake with the handle of a wooden spoon.
Step 3: Add peanut butter mixture
- Combine creamy peanut butter and sweetened condensed milk in a bowl and stir until smooth. Pour this mixture into the holes, letting it soak in.
Step 4: Frost the cake
- Once completely cool, spread the chocolate frosting evenly over the cake.
Step 5: Add toppings
- Top with chopped Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and a layer of whipped topping for extra creaminess. Chill before serving.
Notes
Store the cake covered in the refrigerator for up to 4 days to keep it moist and fresh. Avoid leaving it out for long periods, especially in warm weather.
