Step 1: Prepare the oven and pan
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a springform pan with butter and lightly flour it.
Step 2: Make the cake batter
- Beat sugar and butter in a bowl until light and creamy. Mix in vanilla after adding eggs one at a time.
- Combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Slowly alternate adding dry ingredients with milk until smooth.
Step 3: Prepare the cream cheese topping
- Beat softened cream cheese with powdered sugar until creamy. Spread this mixture evenly over the cake batter in the pan.
Step 4: Bake the cake
- Bake for about 55–60 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean from the center.
Step 5: Cool and serve
- Allow the cake to cool slightly on a wire rack. Warm up and serve with whipped cream or a spoonful of vanilla ice cream.
